The Story of how the "Night with Ike" unfolded.

December 7th 2006 @ 7:30 p.m. at the Sportsman's' Center in Bordentown.

Ike with the Youth!

The evening started with a special event held for the youth. It started with Mike addressing the youth and talking personally to them. After Mike addressed the youth he opened up the meeting with a Q & A session. There were very interesting questions asked by the kids and answered directly. After a tackle and angling tips segment, Mike signed autographs, gave out autographed angler cards supplied by himself and spoke to them individually. We would like to thank Mike's sponsor Berkley, for the handouts they supplied to us for the kids. A sample pack of some of Berkley's new Gulp baits, a knot card and a Berkley journal. We would also like to thank B.A.S.S. for adding to the handouts which included BASSMASTERS caps. The kids really appreciated that!

The next portion of the "Night with Ike" event began with the President of the Federation Nation of New Jersey John Radamski informing the audience of how the organization is structured and how you can get your shot at the Classic.

After he addressed the attendees, the Classic winning and 2006 B.A.S.S. Angler of the year was introduced, Mike Iaconelli.

We had an attendance of approximately 70 anglers representing around 20 clubs. We had the gambit of attendees which included clubs already involved to clubs that were interested or previously Federation members in the past.

Mike addressed the crowd and told the story of how he made it through the ranks of the Federation. A day one explanation of how he started his fishing club Top Rod, and began fishing out of his small John boat. He eventually fished as a rider in the Federation for several years, learned some valuable fishing tips from some of the States premier anglers and grew to what he has become today. Mike explained "Pound for pound one of the best ways to get a shot at fishing the Classic was through your State Federation".

The format Mike followed was to open up the floor to questions from the audience. Many interesting questions were asked and the crowd was most appreciative for the time he spent them. When the evening concluded, there was an autograph signing and one on one conversation with most of those attending. This went on for so long,  we had to be chased out by the meeting hall management.
